Bone Broth
2 to 6 lbs of grass fed beef bones
Add in options:
- 1 to 2 cups dried mushrooms
- 1 onion
- 2-5 garlic cloves
- ½ cup ginger root
- Sachet of dried herbs
Boil bones in water on the stove for 20 minutes. Remove from pot and place on a baking sheet. Roast bones in the oven at 450 degrees for 20 minutes on one side, turn and roast an additional 20. Fill crockpot with cold water, add bones and any add in options. Set crock pot on low and let it go for at least 48 hours. Once time is up, pull bones and discard. Let liquid cool to a temperature that won’t scald you and then strain. Make an ice bath to cool for about an hour, cover and refrigerate. Within a few hours you will have a layer of fat hardened on top, scrape off, store in fridge in a glass jar and save for cooking, skin care or whatevs!
